The Office of the Provost provides academic leadership and vision to Sonoma State University.
Its fundamental task is to ensure excellence in teaching, research and scholarship in order to ultimately give undergraduate and graduate students the highest quality of education–both within and outside the classroom.

Crucial to our student’s educational experience, is our diverse community of extraordinary educators, faculty, staff, academic deans, department heads, student services professionals – all of whom are experts within their field and dedicated to the success of our students and groundbreaking support services. Together with our community of educators, we can shape our rich and rewarding academic culture.
The Office of the Provost aims to recruit exceptional faculty, staff and educators. It provides a myriad of research opportunities, grants, fellowships and awards to support these efforts. The office also implements and reviews academic initiatives which support and complement Sonoma State’s mission, strategic planning, globalization efforts and interdisciplinary work across the university.
Our core values are an expression of who we are at Sonoma State. We proudly embrace these values as part of our Seawolf Commitment to providing our students and faculty/staff with the best experience possible.
