Block Enrollment & Guided Registration
Block Enrollment
The block enrollment project is designed to simplify the registration process for first-year students by pre-enrolling between 1-3 courses onto their schedule in the fall and spring semesters of their first year.
What courses may be pre-enrolled?
- GE Area A2 - Written Communication
- GE Area B4 - Mathematics/Quantitative Reasoning
- First Year Learning Communities – FLCs
- Courses required to participate in Sonoma Mountain Connection – SMC
It is highly recommended that students keep the courses they have been pre-enrolled in on their schedule because the project utilizes a structured framework and registration sequence to ensure that students are pre-enrolled in the most optimal schedule possible for their major.
The desired project outcomes include:
- Increasing FTFY English (A2) and Math (B4) EO1110 enrollment
- Pre-enrolling students into at-least one first-year, A2, B4 or FLC course
- Ensuring pre-enrolled schedules follow, CSU, major, and cohort requirements
Guided Registration
English (A2) and Math (B4) courses pre-enrolled onto a student’s schedule is based on college placement. These courses may be required. If a student is required to take a course in the fall and/or spring, guided registration will prevent them from dropping Math and/or English, but will allow them to swap between course sections. Additional information about guided registration is available in the Student FAQs.
Many students have been pre-enrolled into courses recommended by their major without the course being required by guided registration. If a student needs to drop a pre-enrolled course, they should try to do so prior to contacting an advisor.
