About
Dr. Stacey Bosick joined Sonoma State as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies in July 2019 and currently serves as the Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Studies and the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Prior to coming to Sonoma State, Dr. Bosick enjoyed ten years as a professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Colorado Denver, where she also served as the Director of Graduate Studies, a Faculty Fellow in the Center for Faculty Development, and an Executive Member of Faculty Council.
Dr. Bosick brings a deep dedication to the student experience. She has taught a range of courses including first-year learning communities, study abroad courses in Thailand, and in-person and online courses in criminology, research methods, and the life course. She was twice awarded CU Denver’s Excellence in Teaching Award.
Her research scholarship focuses on crime and inequality over the life course and has won awards from the American Society of Criminology, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and the American Sociological Association. She has an active researcher-practitioner grant from Colorado Evaluation and Action Lab supporting her research with the Denver District Attorney’s Office. This work aims to understand how the use of prosecutorial discretion influences racial disparities in the criminal justice system.
Dr. Bosick was raised in Vallejo, California and is a proud product of California’s Community College system, having transferred to U.C. Berkeley from Solano Community College. She is happy to be home.
