I am pleased to have something to announce that does not relate to COVID-19: Dr. Troi Carleton has accepted our offer to be the next Dean of Social Sciences at Sonoma State University>

I want to start by expressing my deep gratitude for all you are doing to help all of us at Sonoma State navigate this extremely difficult – and frankly frightening – public health crisis.

To maintain health and safety, the campus Emergency Operations Center (EOC) has worked with the Faculty Center and academic leadership to develop two processes to assist you in moving to remote teaching and learning.

As we make our way through the evolving COVID-19 health crisis, we are committed to communicating with the division to share what we know as of this time.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone on our staff and faculty for continuing to help us maintain academic continuity under these difficult circumstances.

As you saw in President Sakaki's message today, we are suspending face-to-face classes for tomorrow, Thursday, March 12, Friday, March 13, and Monday, March 23. 

From SSU News: Sonoma State University moved up five spots to No. 14 on U.S. News and World Report’s list of “Top Public Schools” in the Western Region for 2019-20. The university was ranked No. 19 in the same listing for 2018. 

From SSU News: (Rohnert Park) — The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria have agreed to make a $2.85 million gift to Sonoma State University to improve and expand environmental education of the 450-acre Fairfield Osborn Preserve located on the northwest slope of Sonoma Mountain.

Sonoma State University has once again been selected as one of America’s top colleges by Forbes magazine, ranked No. 88 in the West and No. 150 among public colleges in the nation.
