Today, July 1, is a day full of change, promise, and challenge. July 1 is the beginning of a new year at Sonoma State, and we will soon welcome a new set of students and faculty.

We write to you as members of the Provost’s Leadership Council to condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the anti-Black, racist violence that resulted in George Floyd’s murder on May 25, 2020.

​Dear Campus Community, I am excited to announce that Dr. Elisabeth Wade has accepted the position of Dean of Science and Technology at Sonoma State University

I am thrilled to announce the 2019-20 faculty award winners. Dr. Mary Ellen Wilkosz is the recipient of the 2019-20 Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Matthew Clark is the recipient of the 2019-20 Excellence in Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activity Award.

As this most unusual of unusual academic years is coming to an official close, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to you.

Dear Faculty and Academic Affairs Staff, It is hard to believe another week has gone by. My message this week is very simple: thank you.

Thank you for the incredible work you have done to help SSU get through its first ever week of all-remote instruction.

We hope you are staying safe and well! We are living in very uncertain times. Thank you for continuing to pursue your educational goals at Sonoma State University.

As we begin offering remote instruction tomorrow, I want to thank you for the flexibility you are showing in these unprecedented times.

As spring break ends, we want to acknowledge that we have never experienced a public health crisis of this magnitude in modern times. First and foremost, it is important to remember that all of us are in this together.
