CSU Student Research Competition

Hosted by San Diego State University

The CSU Student Research Competition is held annually to showcase the outstanding scholarly and creative research accomplishments of both undergraduate and graduate students across all disciplines and includes scholars from all 23 California State University campuses.

This year, four graduate student projects have been selected to represent SSU in this competition:

  • Title: Utilizing Benthic Macroinvertebrates to Assess Ecological Status of Urbanized Northern California Freshwater Ecosystems 
    • Presenter: Rebecca Kopel
    • Department: Biology
    • Faculty Mentor: Dr. Nicholas Geist
  • Title: Cooperative Landing for Unmanned Aerial and Ground Vehicles 
    • Presenter: Bryce Jensen 
    • Department: Engineering
    • Faculty Mentor:  Dr. Nansong Wu
  • Title: Non-Invasive Blood Glucose Monitoring using Breath Volatile Organic Compounds
    • Presenter: Sokiyna Naser and Het Patel
    • Department: Engineering
    • Faculty Mentor: Dr. Sudhir Shrestha
  • Title:  Population and Community Assembly Patterns Related to Remnant Bull Kelp (Nereocystis luetkeana) Forests Following a Catastrophic Decline
    • Presenter: Vinicius Souza
    • Department: Biology
    • Faculty Mentor: Dr. Brent Hughes

 

Students representing SSU will present their work in-person at San Diego State University to a jury and an audience on April 28th and April 29th, 2023.
