Tenured & Tenure Track Faculty

From the moment of hire to the decision to retire, Faculty Affairs implements all processes related to the career path as a Sonoma State professor. The process of reappointment, tenure and promotion is guided by both the Collective Bargaining Agreement and SSU Policy. Links to all forms, department criteria, and information is available to help candidates and committees through this process.

Other programs available during your employment include the Market Equity request process. This is a benefit provided by collective bargaining. Faculty who are employed full time for six years will be eligible to apply for Sabbatical or Difference in Pay leave. The six years includes any service credit given at the time of employment. A full time faculty member may also apply for a Difference in Pay leave three years after a previous sabbatical. Faculty must fulfill certain specific terms or conditions to be eligible for consideration. These are outlined in the information provided by Faculty Affairs.

Sonoma State also has various programs for faculty who want to slow down their working schedule prior to retirement from Sonoma State. The procedures for separating from Sonoma State can be discussed in confidence with the Director of Faculty Personnel.
