EPC Policy on Off-Site Programs
The SSU Educational Policies Committee will have procedures and practices for schools or departments that want to establish an off-site educational program or a new program delivery format that will result in the awarding of an undergraduate or graduate major, minor, certificate, or credential. These processes will include:
- relevant forms and instructions for schools and/or departments to describe:
- the proposed program including rationale.
- availability of student services (ex. including but not limited to GWAR resources, career services, library resources, disability student services, etc.).
- resources necessary for program implementation including faculty workload needs, space requirements, necessary technology, and library materials.
- impact of the proposed program/delivery format on related programs at other sites.
- how the program will be assessed and mechanisms for curriculum oversight and review.
- the faculty governance approval process for off-site programs will follow the same process as for on-site programs and include appropriate mechanisms for EPC to obtain input from other faculty governance bodies and/or relevant campus entities regarding program features that may not be directly curricular in nature.
- a mechanism by which programs not directly affiliated with or housed within an SSU on-site department are reviewed prior to EPC by a faculty group affiliated with the School of Extended and International Education (i.e. SEIE Curriculum Committee).
Programs that currently exist on-site and will be offered in the same mode at the off-site location will include the catalog copy for that program with the off-site approval documentation. Curricular programs that are modified in some manner from the on-campus offering will be accompanied by the appropriate curricular revision forms. Programs that involve online or hybrid aspects must also adhere to the SSU Online or Hybrid Instruction policy.
Subsequent changes to program or course-level offerings at the off-site location will adhere to the standard curricular change processes for on-campus programs. Changes in curriculum composition and/or delivery that only apply to the off-site program will be indicated clearly and accompanied by strong pedagogical justification(s).
This policy and related program and curricular forms will be available on the SSU Curriculum Guide and reviewed and updated as needed.
