Strategic Enrollment Management

Strategic Enrollment Management Plan

Sonoma State University prepared and implemented a Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Plan in fall 2020 at the height of the COVID pandemic. That SEM Plan was the first of its kind for Sonoma State University and represented a new phase of the University’s development as a federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution with a commitment to increasing our service to Latinx, Black, Indigenous, and Asian and Pacific Islander populations, as well as low-income communities.

The SEM Plan was developed in broad partnership with stakeholders across the institution and with the assistance of Brent Gage, our consultant from the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). Since that time we have also benefited from consulting with Bernie Vinovrski, former AVP, Enrollment Management at CSU Fresno,  April Grommo, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management Services at the Chancellor’s Office, and Ed Mills, Vice President for Student Affairs at Sacramento State. We have also restructured our Office of Strategic Enrollment under the capable management of Senior Associate Vice President for Strategic Enrollment, Dr. Elias Lopez and his staff, including Director of Admissions Natalie Kalogiannis and Director of Student Outreach and Recruitment Rich Toledo.
