Guided Registration

What is guided registration?

Here are links to the guided registration Student FAQs and Faculty & Staff FAQs.

The office of Academic Programs has partnered with IT on the implementation of a Peoplesoft (MYSSU) add-on called Guided Registration to replace our current pre-enrollment process. Instead of placing students in their general education Math and English courses ahead of orientation, Guided Registration will require students to register for Math and English, during orientation. View a sample screenshot of what students will see.

Once students enroll in B4 Math and A2 English, they will be able to enroll in other courses. Students are assigned to register for English and Math courses in fall and/or spring and given a set of options based on major and placement results. Students assigned to a spring registration group may still enroll in a stretch or one-semester course in fall as part of the registration process. Guided Registration will prevent students from dropping Math and English, but will allow them to swap between courses.

Why are we using guided registration?

Guided Registration will help improve our EO 1110 compliance, but most importantly, this will allow students to learn how to register for courses, and to pick the schedules that they desire while still providing the same benefits as pre-enrollment.

The ability to be able to choose their own schedule and swap between sections will reduce student stress as they will not need to gain permission from  advisors and Academic Programs to make these decisions and changes.
